RAPHAEL FRÜHAUFHuman Computer Interaction Design

Here you can get a brief insight of some projects I worked on the last 4 years during my studies in Augsburg and The Hague (NL).

Raphael Frühauf

About me: I like being creative and rethinking conventions. My keen eye for identifying poor user experience design drives my work and studies. This is why I study and work in the fields of Human Computer Interaction Design, User Experience Design and Web Accessiblity.

I gained many years of experience as a technical system planner, combined with expertise in graphics and marketing of renewable energy systems. This has shaped my pragmatic approach to tackling new challenges.

Let’s collaborate to bring design and development together!

Pflegepfad Bayern @Digitalschmiede Bayern

PflegePfad Bayern, a web application that guides people in need of care, their relatives and friends, and those interested in care through the ‘care jungle’. The aim: to make the processes involved in organising care easier to understand and more accessible. Created as a project of Digitalschmiede Bayern 2024, hosted by byte - the Bavarian Agency for Digital Affairs from the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs.
I was responsible for the user research and the UX design during the 3 month fellowship program. We had a lot of interviews with stakeholders from institutions of the Bavarian care system and people with dementia and it shaped my view of understanding for users needs and the ruthless situation of caretakers.

Feetback

Feetback is a research project for development of prototypes regarding the foot based control of computers and interfaces. This type of foot interaction is unusual and in the Human Computer Interaction little researched. This was the reason, why we worked on several creative prototypes and conducted user tests for getting an idea and new insights in foot based control interfaces.

It was part of my studies for Human Computer Interaction Design at University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg. I focused on user research, concept development, prototype construction with soldering of the hardware, user test moderation, documentation and video production

Team: Raphael Frühauf, Vivienne Vollmar, Tabea Fahner, Anna-Lena Münch

mindfriendly

mindfriendly is an informative web application that raises awareness about cognitive accessibility, focusing on the needs of people with ADHD in digital design. It provides insights, practical solutions, and design patterns to make user interfaces more inclusive. Created as a final project for the Interactive Media program at the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg, mindfriendly promotes the idea that accessibility benefits all users by embracing neurodiversity.

Cake-o-Graph

The user should interact acoustically with the device. To do this, a sound is spoken, sung, clapped, squeaked or whatever into the microphone. The sound signal is transmitted via the computer to the programmed Arduino board and generates a centrifugal deflection on the equally rotating cake plate by a pen coupled to a servo.

Detex - AI-Clothing recognition

Detex is an AI-based system for the automatic classification of used clothing for a simplified sorting process in the recycling process.

I was responsible for the hardware concept/installation, the User Interface Design (PyQT) and I conducted the User Tests.

feed4all App Design

I was part of the European Project Semester IT & Design in Den Haag, Netherlands. I worked in an internatinoal & interdisciplinary team on the feed4All Project. feed4All is an app concept for students and teachers which helps to give and receive feedforward. This will be used in order to improve the concept of feedback.

I was mostly responsible for the prototyping, UX design and for the showcase video & animations.

Überleben in Augsburg - AUXFILM (Survive in Augsburg)

The film was made as part of the "Aux_Heimatfilm?" course at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences on behalf of A3 Regio Augsburg Wirtschaft GmbH. It was a project for a creative way of presentation the city and the districts of Augsburg. In our idea we let a fictitious naturalist explore Augsburg.

I was a huge part of the direction and the recordings as well as editing the final cut. Additionally I was voice actor of the narrator.

    Cheri Cheri Planet

The installation uses light projection mapping and music to allow visitors to explore and interact with the planets of our solar system. Singing certain notes changes the appearance of the floating sphere representing each planet.
